Join us for a live online session with Bailey from Shakyra Dowling Casting.
This workshop focuses on the moment your tape starts. The first impression. The choices you make before you even realise you are making them.
Across our previous workshops, one theme keeps coming up. Actors often do not realise how quickly casting decisions begin forming. This session looks closely at those first moments and what casting genuinely sees and registers straight away.
Bailey will be covering things such as:
• What casting notices immediately when a tape begins
• Framing, eye line and overall presentation
• Energy, pace and the impact of the first line
• How quickly casting can tell if someone understands the brief
• What makes them keep watching
• What makes them switch off
To make the session practical, Bailey will also provide a short script ahead of the workshop. Actors will perform this live during the session. Bailey will be able to stop the performance as soon as she feels she has seen enough and give direct feedback on what she noticed in those first moments.
